Girls in the developing world face numerous risks to their health and well being.

In Thailand, poverty is forcing many young girls to enter the thriving sex industry, often against their will or as a last resort. Many times, these girls return home dying of AIDS, or simply disappear...

"I am frustrated. I don’t know what to do. I can’t support my children to go to school. I can’t borrow money because the interest is very high. But I want my daughter to study, because if she doesn’t, she might go to work in the [sex] business." - 50-year-old Buper, a widow and day laborer from Doisango who is raising her three boys and one girl on less than $3 a day planting corn and rice.

"I want to study. But I know that my mother doesn’t have money." - Buper’s daughter Phara, 15, whose real name means "blessing" in the Thai language.

ADRA is on the ground, helping families like Buper and Phara overcome the overwhelming odds.

Since 1998, ADRA has been safeguarding young girls through the Keep Girls Safe project. The success of the project has meant that hundreds of girls have had the opportunity to focus on their education without having to worry about how they will pay for it. ADRA provides scholarships to help cover the cost of tuition, school supplies, uniform, lunch, and transportation to and from school.

Today, you have an opportunity to help these girls. Give to ADRA, and we can continue these vital programs. Your donation will save the lives of at-risk impoverished girls in developing countries.

When you give to ADRA, you are supporting projects such as the Keep Girls Safe program and others in Cambodia and India where ADRA’s intervention is saving lives.

You also are supporting projects such as the female genital mutilation projects in Kenya, Somalia and other African countries.

Give girls a sense of safety and hope. Give generously today.
