Today, it seems as if things are just getting worse. Extreme hunger is on the rise. Natural disasters are becoming more violent. Lives are being senselessly lost, and for much of the world hope is in rare supply.

When the winds blow, the earth shakes, and the floodwaters rise, God’s children look to the heavens and pray for protection, peace, and hope. These are the reasons that ADRA’s annual Disaster and Famine Relief Offering exists.

ADRA is an expression of God’s unfailing love to the children, women, and men of this world. Working in 125 countries, ADRA is called by our Creator to be a light to those in need, bringing hope to those who have lost everything and to those who have nothing.

Following the example of Jesus, who met people’s needs wherever they were, ADRA provides assistance without regard to gender, ethnicity, or political or religious affiliation.

Will you follow the example of Jesus and help those in a time of desperate need?

On January 12 this year, everything collapsed for much of the impoverished nation of Haiti. Our hearts broke over the more than 200,000 lives lost and the more than 1 million survivors left homeless. Within hours, ADRA raced into action, and within days staff from our office arrived to assist our workers in Haiti, who themselves were grieving and trying to pick up the pieces of their own lives.

ADRA immediately began providing clean water and sanitation, desperately needed food, medical care, and shelter. We continue meeting immediate needs and are now laying the groundwork for long-term development.

Each year, the Seventh-day Adventist Church sets aside one Sabbath for ADRA’s annual Disaster and Famine Relief Offering. This year, you have the opportunity to uplift, educate, and inspire by supporting ADRA’s work. You can make a difference, bringing hope and easing the suffering of millions of God’s children worldwide.

Please help us to continue the critical work in Haiti and around the world in this time of need.

To minister to people in the moment of their greatest need restores their hope and brings healing. ADRA has a long history of helping people living in the world’s toughest conditions to recover and rebuild after natural disasters and conflict.

Long after the media leave the area and the stories are no longer brought to public attention, ADRA is still there, working through disaster situations and moving communities into development and self-sufficiency. This is possible in part due to the funds received through the Disaster and Famine Relief Program.

Won’t you bring hope to the hopeless and a future to those in need?
