SILVER SPRING, Md. - ADRA International President, Rudi Maier, has recently been elected to the Board of Directors for InterAction, the largest U.S.-based alliance of international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).
Maier's appointment comes at a vital time for InterAction, as the alliance is looking to expand and adapt its role in the ever-changing climate of international development. Amid a range of strategic plans, InterAction's Board will be working to shape the environment in which NGOs are working in, a crucial task, as the attitude towards Foreign Assistance in Washington remains divided.
"These are challenging times, however, these times are also filled with new opportunities for the development community to thrive in, and I look forward to participate as a new member on InterAction's Board," said Maier
Maier became president of ADRA International in 2010. Prior to joining ADRA, he worked as a professor of international development studies, development consultant, community development project director, and director for program evaluation. Born in Germany, he has served in various professional capacities in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the former Soviet Union, and the U.S.
