How is ADRA Different From Other Humanitarian Organizations

One thing that separates ADRA from other humanitarian organizations is the fact that ADRA does not take sides. We remain neutral, and this is what has gained us access into many regions of the world where other humanitarian organizations are unable to enter. ADRA works with entire communities rather than just focusing efforts on the sponsorship of one child within the community. ADRA believes in helping the poor of the world over a long period of time, and in places that other humanitarian organizations will not go.

An example of ADRA's existing work making a difference during a crisis was during the Tsunami that hit Somalia, India, Indonesia, and Southeast Asia in 2004. In every country that was affected, ADRA was already there working in various communities offering several programs. Because of ADRA's presence in these countries, we already had the proper documents in place that allowed us to offer aid after the disaster. The governments of those countries hit by the disaster knew they could work with and trust ADRA over other humanitarian organizations because ADRA had been there for years helping the poor in those areas.

ADRA's reputation is extremely high in the countries in which we work. Because of the long history ADRA has with the countries in which we work, we are trusted and relied upon during any type of crisis. ADRA is in countries to help the people. There is no other agenda. Although ADRA is a Christian based organization, we do not offer aid to countries on the condition that we are allowed to share Christian beliefs. Other ministry and humanitarian organizations are not permitted into certain areas specifically because they have another agenda besides just providing aid or programs to help the citizens. ADRA is trusted by governments to help the people we serve, not convert them. Furthermore, ADRA is there for the long term. We don't enter an area, drop food and supplies, then leave. We remain for years providing training, education, community programs, food, medical help, and more.

The immediate response ADRA was able to give after the Tsunami disaster of 2004 is just one example of how our ongoing and long term work in a region helped to save lives. It is also one of the distinguishing factors that separates ADRA from other humanitarian organizations. Join ADRA today in making a difference in the lives of those struggling to survive each day by making a gift to help ADRA save lives.
